Due to increased flu activity in New York state and Onondaga County, all Syracuse hospitals are asking those experiencing flu-like symptoms to refrain from visiting patients at this time.
Crouse Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, Upstate University Hospital’s Downtown and Community campuses, and Syracuse VA Medical Center are taking this precaution jointly for the safety of patients and families, and hospital staff.
Flu-like symptoms may include: fever, cough and/or sore throat, runny and stuffy nose, headaches and/or body aches, chills, fatigue, nausea, vomiting.
As a reminder, to prevent the spread of flu: wash hands thoroughly with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, stay home if you are ill and get a flu vaccination.
Hospital visitors are reminded to use hand sanitizer and wash hands frequently during and after a visit.
