Senator Chuck Schumer Secures $1 Million to Enhance Access to Emergency Services

Senator Chuck Schumer was in Syracuse on January 5 to announce federal funding to support CNY healthcare initiatives. Leaders from regional healthcare providers attended the event, held at OCC. Crouse will receive $1 million, which will be used to enhance access to emergency services through the Rapid Evaluation Unit of Crouse’s Pomeroy Emergency Services Department.

“Over the course of the pandemic, the number of patients accessing emergency services has continued to increase, not just at Crouse but throughout the region,” said Seth Kronenberg, MD, Crouse’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer. “This project will allow us to expand the Rapid Evaluation Unit, which will improve quality, enhance the patient experience and allow more efficient movement of patients throughout the Emergency Department. That will lead to quicker triage times and reduce waiting room times which comes at a time when it is needed most.”
