Crouse Nurse Belinda Blanck Honored with DAISY Award

What sets a nurse apart is not education or experience, necessarily, but exhibiting compassion and empathy in every encounter.

One such nurse was recognized recently, having been nominated by one of her peers for a DAISY Award. Shannon Bouchard, nurse manager on 7 Irving, nominated Belinda Blanck, a long-time member of the Kienzle Family Maternity Center team.

In her nomination, Shannon wrote that Belinda is “an advocate for the profession of nursing and serves a role model with an expert level of clinical knowledge pertaining to her specialty field.”

She went on to say, “Belinda’s highest priority is creating an exceptional experience for patients and families. She forms lifelong bonds, receiving the highest praise. Recently, I ran into the father of a former long-term patient from eight years ago, and the first name he mentioned was Belinda, speaking of how she put his entire family at ease during an extremely difficult and scary situation.”

Shannon described Belinda as a fair, genuine role model to staff. “Belinda is an empowering, professional, passionate, dedicated and respected nurse leader. She offers an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on and inspiration to achieve goals previously thought to be unattainable.”
