Remembering Advocate for Brain Conditions

This past August, the Crouse Health family and the Central New York community were deeply saddened by the loss of Mary Rozzano Cook, a tireless advocate for individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by a brain aneurysm or hemorrhagic stroke.

After her own successful surgery for a brain aneurysm, Mary established the
CNY Brain Aneurysm Awareness Campaign, a local non-profit that sponsors a wide-range of educational programs, a monthly support group, and various fundraisers to help those currently fighting these life-threatening neurological conditions.

Since 2015, Mary oversaw the planning of events that raised close to $63,000 for the
Crouse Neuroscience Institute and its programs related to brain aneurysms or hemorrhagic strokes. Mary did this in addition to being a loving wife and mother of three, as well as a second-grade teacher at East Syracuse Elementary School.

Mary will be greatly missed but her passion and dedication will live on through the efforts of the charity she founded, her fellow volunteers, and the programs of the Crouse Neuroscience Institute.

As a tribute to Mary, the CNY Brain Aneurysm Awareness Group recently renamed their fund within the Crouse Health Foundation as the Mary Rozzano Cook Brain Aneurysm and Hemorrhagic Stroke Fund for Education, Awareness and Patient Care.
