Kevin ASh and his care team

For former ICU patient Kevin Ash, it was his care team at Crouse that fueled his motivation to get better.

Recently, Kevin came back to the ICU where he had been a patient for many months, to show gratitude for his care team and all of the ICU staff for the work that they do.

When word spread around the ICU that the former patient returned for a visit, the room was soon filled with individuals who had worked with him during his stay.

Kevin spent time catching up with those who provided care for him during the three-month span, including nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors and physical therapists.

Staff verbalized how happy it made them to see him stronger and thanked him for coming back.

An abundance of hugs, laughs and even some tears were shared during the visit. Kevin said that when times got tough and anxieties started to set in during his stay, he’d look for the familiar faces of his care team to put him at ease.

Kevin expressed that he appreciated the supportive push from the team to get better, even if it was difficult in those moments. He said, “I wanted to express how appreciative I am. I would not be here without you guys.”
