PCON Congratulations Graduates

The Bill and Sandra Pomeroy College of Nursing at Crouse Hospital held its 108th  Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Hendricks Chapel on the campus of Syracuse University. 60 graduate nurses received diplomas, comprising both the evening/weekend and traditional day program options.  Graduates were also joined by members of the December 2022 graduating class.  Crouse Health President and CEO Seth Kronenberg, MD, and Chief Nursing Officer Lynne Shopiro delivered remarks to the graduates.  Jessica Heh, an April 2023 evening/weekend graduate and Nicholas Mellen, a May 2023 traditional day graduate spoke on behalf of their peers.  Andrew Wong, DNP, RN, AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC, a 2009 Crouse graduate, delivered the keynote address. Wong is a Senior Director of Patient Care Services at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY.

Sandra Pomeroy Memorial Emergency Services Award for a graduate that has been hired into Pomeroy Emergency Services at Crouse Hospital and exhibits the MVV of the organization. It also recognizes that they have demonstrated clinical and theoretical excellence, compassion in patient care, and a commitment to the nursing profession.

Spirit of Nursing Award for a graduate in her final semester of nursing school who stands out among her peers for both her academics and personal conduct. It also recognizes the student’s ability to balance the demands of family and school.

These scholarships assist exceptional Pomeroy College of Nursing graduates with the initial costs of achieving a Bachelor of Nursing Degree.

This award is presented in the memory of Sue Wood, a long-time member of the Crouse family. The award recognizes and exemplifies the caring, compassion, and humility that were the cornerstones of Sue’s nursing practice and an inspiration to all nurses.
