2019 Crouse Classic Golf Tournament

Crouse Health Foundation’s 18^th annual Crouse Classic Golf Tournament, to support children’s services at Crouse Hospital, was held on Monday, July 15, at the beautiful and challenging Bellevue Country Club, Syracuse. Both morning and afternoon shotgun starts were offered in a Captain and Crew format as golfers enjoyed friendly contests on a variety of holes with refreshments available throughout the course. The day concluded with a casual reception, delicious dinner, and awards presentation.

212 golfers participated as the tournament raised $130,000 in net proceeds to support the work of the Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Crouse Health’s Kienzle Family Maternity Center. Over 1,000 patients are cared for annually in Crouse Health’s Regional NICU, a New York State-designated regional perinatal center caring for the highest risk premature and critically ill infants in the fourteen-county region it serves.

To date, golf tournaments in support of Crouse Health have raised more than $2 million. Proceeds from this year’s Crouse Classic Golf Tournament will be used to purchase the Arctic Sun Temperature Management System for Crouse Health’s Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The equipment is used to modulate a newborn’s temperature with precision by circulating chilled water in pads directly adhered to the baby’s skin. This non-invasive system is used to induce hypothermia (a reduction in temperature) in infants that are at risk for ischemic brain injury. Using varying water temperatures and a sophisticated computer algorithm, a baby’s body temperature can be accurately and effectively managed via this state-of-the-art medical device.
