2018 Crouse Classic Golf Tournament

Crouse Health Foundation’s 17th annual Crouse Classic Golf Tournament, to support children’s services at Crouse Health, was held Monday, July 16, at the beautiful and challenging Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse. Both morning and afternoon shotgun starts were offered in a Captain and Crew format as golfers enjoyed friendly contests on a variety of holes with refreshments available throughout the course. The day concluded with a casual reception, delicious dinner, and awards presentation.

A total of 218 golfers participated as the tournament raised $130,000 in net proceeds to support the work of the Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Crouse’s Kienzle Family Maternity Center. Last year more than 900 infants were cared for in our Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a New York State-designated regional perinatal center caring for the highest risk and most complicated NICU patients in the fourteen-county region it serves. To date, golf tournaments in support of Crouse Health have raised more than $1.9 million.

Net proceeds from this year’s Crouse Classic Golf Tournament will be used to purchase new fiber-optic endoscopes for the Baker Regional NICU. Specifically sized for tests and procedures on newborns, this equipment is the latest available to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal and respiratory ailments in premature and critically-ill babies. These scopes have state-of-the-art optical imaging technology that enhances the visibility of vessels and other tissues and, through special brightness and contrast displays, a physician’s viewing distance is virtually doubled. High-quality digital images can then be captured for sharing with specialists and other providers involved in a baby’s care.
