DAISY Nursing Excellence Award Presented to Brianna Sgroi, RN

By: Crouse News

Our most recent DAISY nursing excellence award recipient is Brianna Sgroi, RN on 4 North.

She recently received a DAISY Award for going above and beyond the expectations of a patient, who wrote the following: “Brianna explained everything she was going to do and why it was being done with patience, compassion, and understanding. Being in a hospital setting can be very scary, especially under the circumstances that brought me here – a sudden hypertensive crisis. Brianna has listened intently to my concerns with undivided attention letting you know she cares. She has given me hope that Dr. Wai, whom she has high recommendations for, will finally find the reason why my blood pressure spikes so high and the hope that my medical issue will once and for all be solved and dealt with positively. Brianna also gave extraordinary care in dealing with my roommate’s medical issues, explaining to her why she couldn’t get out of bed, calming her down, and reassuring her. Brianna also gave me a head’s up whenever she was going to perform a particularly noisy, loud procedure and apologized for any disturbance. She not only shows exemplary work skills, but shows she really loves her job as a nurse with kindness, amiability, and understanding.”

DAISY Award honorees personify Crouse Hospital’s remarkable patient experience. These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care, and are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community.

Thank you for all you do, Brianna!
