DAISY Award Recipient for November 2022: Amanda Commisso, RN

By: Crouse News

Crouse nurse Amanda Commisso, from Med/Surg Float Pool, recently received a DAISY award for going above and beyond the expectations of a patient, who wrote the following:

“I would like to nominate Amanda Commisso to be recognized for her outstanding efforts in making my stay at the hospital a comfortable and informative one. She was attentive to my medications and helped me to understand how to use the dispenser of my pain meds. She was always cheerful when entering my room and answered any questions I had on my condition, medications, and if she didn’t have an answer she proceeded to get one within a timely manner. She made sure I had everything I needed.

After my first day and when I could do so, she encouraged me to try and get up and sit in a chair, and eventually walk the hall. She was instrumental in submitting and explaining my discharge papers. She made sure I understood all of the pertinent info like all the medication I was given in the hospital, what my surgery was all about, my follow up care, restrictions of physical activity, dietary recommendations and incision care at home. Amanda was very knowledgeable, empathetic, and a joy to speak with. Her experience and concern for quality care is exemplary. She deserves to be recognized for her dedication to her profession and patients.”

Congratulations, Amanda, on this recognition and many thanks for demonstrating the Carepassion that Crouse employees have become known for.
