Labor & Delivery Staff Creates Special Anniversary Celebration for Patient

By: Laurie Clark

A phrase you might hear at Crouse is that our staff makes “every moment matter” when it comes to providing the best in patient care. This week, our staff made moments matter outside the realm of patient care by helping a couple celebrate their anniversary in a very special way.

Joy Flateau has been an antepartum patient in our Kienzle Family Maternity Center since mid-September, when she was just about 26 weeks pregnant. Knowing she would be in the hospital for what would be their one-year anniversary, Joy’s husband Tyson decided to plan a special celebration with the help of Crouse.

“The staff always creates a special bond with patients when they’re with us for months at a time,” said Brynne Stockton, RN, nurse manager of the unit. “They worked with Tyson for over a week to plan the celebration, working in conjunction with Security and Patient and Guest Relations to create a memorable evening for them.”

Spending her first anniversary in the hospital wasn’t exactly what they had planned, but Tyson made the evening special for Joy by bringing personal pictures and even their beloved dog to our Pomeroy Patient Patio.

They will no doubt remember this anniversary, thanks in part to our staff. We wish them the best as they await the birth of their baby!
