Workforce Development: Michelle Tramonte, RN, Grew Into a Career at Crouse

By: Ashton Laird

Michelle Tramonte, RN, came to Crouse in search of a career that she could grow into, impressed by the community-based environment and positive experiences of people she knew who worked here.

Her career at Crouse started in nutritional services and during that time she began to think about attending nursing school after meeting so many nurses. She liked that a career in nursing had endless possibilities to pursue.

With encouragement from colleagues, Michelle applied and was accepted to the Pomeroy College of Nursing at Crouse Hospital. While in school, she worked as a Health Unit Coordinator on 7 Irving.

“I had always heard good things about the Pomeroy College of Nursing. With the help of Crouse’s union – 1199 SEIU – I was able to have nursing school taken care of,” says Michelle.

After graduation, she began her nursing career on 7 Irving, where she worked for two years before transitioning to the OB Float Pool, where she currently works.

Michelle enjoys the float pool because it gives her a well-rounded experience working in labor and delivery as well as antepartum and postpartum care.

Balancing her family and career was an important factor for Michelle when she was thinking about her career.  “My favorite part about working at Crouse is the family-work balance. The nurse managers are very easy to work with and they make you feel appreciated for the work you do,” she says.
