A Welcoming Atmosphere Brought Brooke Bonner, RN, to Crouse

By: Ashton Laird

Brooke Bonner’s journey to a career at Crouse began with a recommendation from a friend who couldn’t stop praising the friendly work environment. Intrigued, she decided to join the Crouse family and was immediately convinced by the warm and welcoming environment.

Brooke witnesses firsthand the camaraderie amongst her colleagues in daily interactions.

“Everyone says ‘Hi, good morning’ when you see them or pass by in the hallway. The team really works together to help out the new nurses too,” she says.

Brooke had been working in admissions and surgical care in the Watertown area before making the move to Crouse. She started her career here on 4 Memorial before transitioning to 6 South Irving to gain more medical-surgical experience. From there she moved to the Recovery Care Center, where she’s been taking care of post-operative patients for the last three years.

Brooke’s passion for nursing began at a young age, stemming from times that she would help her mother when she had migraines. Her mother suggested she become a nurse because of her natural caretaking abilities.

“She made up my mind for me!” Brooke jokes.

A recent DAISY Award recipient, Brooke was nominated for reacting quickly to help when her patient’s condition suddenly changed. The nomination read, “Brooke is an extraordinary nurse and I can’t praise her enough. Her skills and caring nature set her apart, she is outstanding!”
