- The Diversity Wheel: In simple terms, diversity is the combination of human differences we are born with, such as age, gender identity and ethnicity. Diversity recognizes that individuals are unique in their educational backgrounds; religious affiliations, veteran status; work backgrounds; life experiences; communication styles; and lifestyles, among other characteristics. Derived from Workforce America! Managing Employee Diversity as a Vital Resource. Marilyn Loden, Judy B. Rosener, Irwin Professional Publishing, 1991.
- LGBTQIA+ Support: LGBTQIA+ is an abbreviation that originated in the 1990s and replaced what was formerly known as “the gay community.” The abbreviation was created to be more inclusive of diverse groups. LGBTQIA+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, and asexual. The + sign is used to signify all other gender identities and sexual orientations that letters and words cannot yet fully describe.
