Today marks the 15th week since I had my weight-loss surgery at Crouse Hospital. And I have to admit, last week was one of the most challenging weeks so far.
That's because I started back to classes full-time at Cayuga Community College and began a new part-time job. It's not my schedule that's challenging (though I am busy!), but it's learning how to eat properly when I'm on the run.
Before the surgery, I would have just grabbed a fast food restaurant meal because it's quick and easy. But I'm learning a whole new way to eat, so now I have to make sure I have healthy snacks at home to pack and eat in between classes. At work, they even let me take occasional protein breaks!
It's all worth it, though, because I've lost 71 pounds so far... the first time in my life I've really been able to lose weight. I told my friends just this week that Alicia Keys must have written her hit song just for me..."This Girl's on Fire!" I can't wait to hit the 100-lb. mark... !
