Health Tip: Your Diet's Role in Gestational
Diabetes
01/13/11
(HealthDay News) -- Gestational diabetes is first diagnosed
while a woman is pregnant.
The U.S. National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse says
dietary changes may be key to managing the disease. The agency
offers these examples of what a gestational diabetes meal plan may
include:
- Restricting sweets.
- Eating three small meals each day, with one-to-three snacks in
between.
- Watching the amount of carbohydrates that you eat, and when you
eat them.
- Increasing fiber intake by eating more fruits, vegetables and
whole grains.
