Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the U.S., ranking behind heart disease and all forms of cancer, with someone suffering every 45 seconds. It is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States and killed 150,074 people in 2004. The screening is intended to encourage people to learn their personal risks for stroke and information about stroke prevention, warning signs and symptoms.
