Grammy-Award Winning Bruce Hornsby to Perform
Crouse Health Foundation’s 33rd annual Tribute Evening gala on Friday, Sept. 25 will be celebrated as “A Tribute Evening of Poetry in Motion,” honoring the dedication and commitment of Mary-Pat Donaldson Northrup to Crouse Hospital and the Central New York community. Proceeds from Tribute Evening 2009 will further Crouse Hospital’s mission to provide the best in patient care and promote community health. Funds acquired by the foundation will be used to purchase special equipment, underwrite new initiatives, and fund educational programs and scholarships.
The Foundation has chosen to pay tribute to Northrup for her service to Crouse and a variety of other organizations throughout the community. She most recently served as Chair of the Crouse Health Foundation Board of Trustees, having held various officer positions since she joined the Foundation Board in 1993. A past president of the Crouse Hospital Auxiliary, she has co-chaired the Kienzle Family Maternity Center campaign and is currently co-chairing the Witting Surgical Center campaign.
Northrup has also served in various leadership positions for the Junior League of Syracuse, Syracuse Boys and Girls Club, The Consortium for Children’s Services, AAA of Central and Western New York, Catholic Charities, Order of Malta and the Cazenovia Lake Foundation.
A highlight of the evening will be entertainment by triple Grammy-Award winning recording and concert artist, Bruce Hornsby, who won his first Grammy in 1987 as “Best New Artist” with the Range for their debut album, The Way It Is. Since then, he has gone on to receive twelve other Grammy nominations, winning “Best Pop Instrumental Performance” in 1993 with Branford Marsalis for their song for the Barcelona Olympics, Barcelona Mona. Hornsby’s thirteen albums have sold over 11 million copies worldwide.
The gala, to be held in the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center, will feature an extended reception, gourmet dinner, entertainment, tribute presentation and coffee bar.
