Crouse Hospital College of Nursing Hosts Open House for Prospective Students

01/24/13

CON Logo - news sizeOn Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Crouse Hospital College of Nursing will welcome prospective students who want to learn more about pursuing a degree and eventual career in nursing. The open house will be held in the Marley Education Center, 765 Irving Ave. Faculty will be on hand to provide information and answer questions, and attendees will be able to tour the school, labs and dorms, and speak with current and former students. Refreshments will be provided, and free parking is available in the Marley Education Center garage. For more information, call 470-7481.

Crouse Hospital College of Nursing was the first hospital-based college of nursing to partner with Say Yes to Education. So if you're a current high school student in the Syracuse City School District, we encourage you to apply.

Nurses will be in demand for years to come. According to DiscoverNursing.com, part of a national nursing recruitment project sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, there will be an estimated shortage of 800,000 nurses by the year 2020. With the world population living longer and needing more care, the healthcare field is one of the best places to get a job, and will likely stay that way for many years to come. Nursing is also considered a highly regarded profession. A Gallup Poll several years ago announced that the public again voted nurses number one for "honesty and ethical standards of various professions.”
