Staff members at Crouse PromptCare care for all kinds of people with all kinds of ailments and with all kinds of needs.
In fact, more than 24,000 patients came through their doors this past year. “Many of our patients clearly are in need of material things like new shoes and warm clothing,” says manager Janet Ricciardiello, in explaining the idea for this holiday ‘giving tree’ staff have set up in their break room.
The tree is adorned with hats, mittens, blankets, scarves, stuffed animals, children’s books and even children’s toothbrushes. “We can’t believe how well it’s been received,” adds Janet. When staff see a patient who may appreciate an item on the tree, they go into the break room, collect the item from on or under the tree, and present it to the patient.
“You can’t believe how appreciative they are. It’s make us feel like we’ve made a little difference in the lives of our patients.” In just two weeks, the tree has already been replenished three times with items purchased by PromptCare staff. Now that's the Crouse spirit!
