On Saturday, Oct. 1, the March of Dimes rolled out the red carpet for the very first Nurse of the Year Awards Gala in Upstate New York. The event, held in Rochester, recognized outstanding nurses throughout Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse who support the mission of the March of Dimes.
Two Crouse Hospital nurses were nominated for Nurse of the Year in two categories. Luana Reeves (right), director of Educational Services, was recognized in the category of Leadership and Sally Manahan, a faculty member in the Crouse Hospital College of Nursing, was also recognized for her accomplishments in the Education category.
A volunteer committee of industry professionals and community leaders reviewed and weighed blindly the nominations and selected a winner in each of the following categories: advanced practice, behavioral health, community/public health, critical care, education, emergency, geriatrics/long term/rehab, home care, hospice/palliative care, leadership, pediatric, medical/surgical, oncology, performance management/quality improvement, research/nurse author and women’s health.
