Robert Miron has been appointed to a three-year term on the Crouse Hospital Board of Directors. Miron is a highly regarded and accomplished business and civic leader who most recently served as Chairman and CEO of Advance Newhouse Communications and its predecessor companies. He retired at the end of 2010.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Miron worked for Newhouse in various capacities and was appointed to lead the Newhouse cable television interests in 1974. He was active in the industry, serving on the Board and Executive Committee of the National Cable Television Association from 1983 until his retirement. Miron was a past Chairman of NCTA serving in 1989-90 and 1997-98, and also served on the board of the Walter Kaitz Foundation. He served on the board of C-Span for many years and was Chairman of its Executive Committee from 2008 to 2010.
He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of Discovery Communication, Inc., having served in that capacity since 1985. He is also a member of the Syracuse University Board of Trustees and is a past vice chair of that board. In 2002, Miron was elected to the Broadcasting and Cable’s Hall of Fame. In 2001 he was inducted into the Cable Television Hall of Fame.
