On Monday, Feb. 21, Maureen Fauler, MHA, RD, CDN, manager of Clinical Nutrition Services at Crouse Hospital, returns to the "CNY Breakfast Club" on Today in Central New York, anchored by Megan Coleman on WSTM TV3. The show airs 5 to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday. Maureen’s segment will air at approximately 6:20 a.m. Maureen’s will address the downsides of sugary drinks.
Maureen holds a bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition and a Master’s of Health Administration. She’s a Registered Dietitian through the American Dietetic Association and a Certified Dietitian Nutritionist through New York State, and has been employed as a in the field of nutrition for over 30 years.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the Central New York Dietetic Association, New York State Dietetic Association, American Dietetic Association, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the Advisory Board of Syracuse University’s Department of Nutrition Science and Dietetics.
As a Registered Dietitian, Maureen is particularly concerned about the increased incidence and prevalence of adult and childhood obesity. “Healthy eating and access to healthy foods is one of the reasons we’re seeing this increase. It is amazing to learn how many people do not have access to fresh fruits and vegetables because their neighborhoods may not have stores where fresh foods are available” says Maureen.
As a member of Crouse’s Wellness Committee and Speakers’ Bureau, she provides many presentations in the community on nutritional topics. Crouse enjoys a partnership with Hughes Magnet school in the Syracuse City School District, where Maureen provides frequent nutrition presentations for students.
