The Brown & Brown Empire State Selects face off against the Syracuse Fire Department at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena during the Brown & Brown Empire State Crouse Hospital Hockey Classic, presented by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. Proceeds from this inaugural event will benefit the Walter R.G. Crouse Hospital’s NICU cares for babies born as young as 24 weeks gestation and weighing just 500 grams. Neonatologists provide coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, caring for 800 to 1,000 infants annually.
An MVP Package is available for $25, which includes the Hockey Classic at 3:30, entry to a post-game casual reception (food and non-alcoholic beverages) and ticket for the Syracuse Crunch versus the Rochester Americans at 7:30 p.m. Special activities will be held throughout the event, including a silent auction featuring items signed by professional sports stars, player-autographed “Pucks for Preemies” and games for all ages. An All-Star Package for $18 includes a ticket to the Crunch game.
Tony Cabana of Brown & Brown Empire State recently joined the Crouse Health Foundation board of directors and has been the driving force behind creating the Hockey Classic. A former Division I hockey player for Sacred Heart in Connecticut, Cabana is one of the players for the Selects.
