Crouse Health Foundation was the grateful recipient of more than $17,000 from the 14th annual Syracuse Auto Dealers Association (SADA) Charity Preview, an annual event held in conjunction with the association's auto show. Jim Barr, SADA Charity Preview Chair, presented the check to Michele Johnson (left), SADA Charity Preview Committee Chair for Crouse, and Director of Development Phyllis Devlin at a luncheon March 28.
The funds were raised through ticket sales designated by purchasers to benefit the Crouse Health Foundation, which ended up the third highest donation recipient of the 15 charities involved. Exceeding their budgeted goal by $2,000, the Foundation this year netted the second highest total in the nine years it's participated.
More than $213,000 was raised at this year’s SADA Charity Preview benefitting fifteen local charitable organizations. In the fourteen year history of the event, $2 million has been donated to charitable causes supporting Central New York children and families. On Feb. 15, as guests mingled among the newest vehicles, they were treated to great food, drinks and musical entertainment throughout The Oncenter. Held the night before the Auto Show opens to the public, attendees leisurely viewed all the latest models local auto dealers had to offer amid a festive atmosphere.
Net proceeds from Crouse ticket sales are being used to benefit the Breast Health Center at Crouse Hospital. Recently named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, renovations and expansion are being made to the center to enhance patients’ experience. The Breast Health Center currently performs close to 10,000 mammograms and 600 core biopsies each year.
To accommodate growing patient volume and care for patients in optimum surroundings, Crouse will be expanding the total square footage of the Breast Health Center, adding space to extend the waiting room and registration areas. The expansion will also include more private and comfortable changing rooms, a dedicated room for clinical breast exams and teaching, along with an improved reading room with private consultation space for radiologists and certified nurse navigators, to create a more comfortable and personal environment.
